Protection in the event of bankruptcy

Have you booked a package travel arrangement, but the travel operator or reseller has gone bankrupt? Fortunately, you are protected in the event of bankruptcy with full cover for any amounts paid.

If the package travel arrangement includes transport, the travel operator or reseller must also ensure your safe return home in the event of bankruptcy.

Non-European travel operators selling or offering package travel arrangements in Belgium, or targeting the Belgian market, must also provide financial cover in the event of bankruptcy.

You are also covered by this type of protection with ‘linked travel arrangements’. Traders providing linked travel arrangements must obtain bankruptcy cover. This enables you to recover the sums associated with travel services that were not honoured as a result of the trader’s bankruptcy.
